“Il
Palazzolo” is beautifully situated on the border between
Umbria and Tuscany, on the road that connects Cortona to Perugia.
Originally An ancient monastry, at the end of the 16th century
under the Laurenzi family it became a manor house and around
about 1750 after the marriage between Loreta Laurenzi and
Antonio Simonetti it passed into the hands of the Simonetti
family who are to this day the owners.
The house has undergone many changes over the years to adapt
it to the various needs of the family so becoming rather more
a country house than a manor house. However 20 years ago during
a substantial restoration, much of it’s original character
was recuperated.
Today this beautiful country house presents itself with every
comfort, unversed in the peaceful, lush countryside. At the
foot of a hill, the house is surrounded by a typically Mediterranean
vegetation, and at the north side of the property there is
an ancient roman road, which can still be seen.
On the south, east and west sides expanding like a large fan
one can admire the panorama of the Val di Pierle, with the
imposing medieval castles of Reschio and Sorbello. |
